About Nicola

Border-hopping is a way of life for British writer Nicola Williams who lives in a lakeside village on the southern side of Lake Geneva in France. Hiking, trail running and skiing in the French and Swiss Alps, dining incognito in the next best Parisian bistro and drinking with experimental winemakers in Languedoc are all part of her work as a Lonely Planet writer,  Telegraph Travel destination expert (France) and freelance editorial bod. France, Switzerland and Italy is where she is most – invariably up a mountain or in an ice-cold lake.

Nicola has authored more than 50 guidebooks for Lonely Planet (including Paris, Bordeaux, France, Best Day Walks France, Florence & Tuscany, Rome and Italy) and is a regularly contributor on its inspirational coffee-table titles (Eat France, You Only Live Once, The Guide to Life, Trip Builder, Street Art, 24h Paris). She also writes for the Telegraph, BBC Travel, The Guardian and Condé Nast Traveller.
