The ocean has a moderating influence on the coastal climate. Winters are mild, with coastal temperatures rarely dropping as low as freezing. Rain is frequent, especially in spring, but the wet weather never stays for long, usually being blown out to sea within a day. Summers tend to be breezy and cooler than in the interior.
