Airlines are launching a raft of new nonstop European routes from the US in 2020, making destinations as exciting as Copenhagen, Kraków and Rome easier to reach. If you're thinking of expanding your travel horizons next year, these are some of the most exciting new routes to follow.

Los Angeles to Copenhagen 

SAS will replace its Los Angeles to Stockholm route with Copenhagen in 2020. Year-round direct flights to the Danish capital from LAX will commence on 13 January with six to seven departures a week.

New York to Kraków

Polish carrier LOT will operate a direct service from JFK Airport to Kraków next year, Poland's postcard-perfect medieval city. Weekly departures will take place on Sunday from 3 May until 18 October 2020.

Austin to Amsterdam

From 4 May, KLM will launch year-round direct flights from Austin to Amsterdam with three departures per week: Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays - just in time to see tulip season in full bloom.

Boston to Vienna

Austrian Airlines will operate Boston's first nonstop flight to Vienna (the world's best city to live in) in 2020. Beginning on 29 March, the service will initially operate four times a week before increasing to six departures weekly in mid-April.

San Francisco to Rome

From 1 June, Italy's national carrier Alitalia will operate three nonstop flights per week from San Francisco to Rome on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The nonstop service will cover high season before ending on 28 October. 

Philadelphia to Prague and Lisbon

American Airlines is extending its nonstop Philadelphia service to Prague and Lisbon in response to increasing demand. The Prague route will kick off on 28 March, while the Lisbon service will begin on 7 May. Both will run until 5 January 2021.
