Acapulco chairs, retro bikes and preppy-styled staff are a deliberate take on the mid-century-design glory days of Surfers. The clever transformation of what was yet another bland '80s tower really does work, with an airy lobby you'll be happy to hang about in. Room interiors are less nostalgic, but have plenty of colour pops.

Rooms are also super-light and comfortable, and come with a beach bag and a couple of pairs of rubber thongs (flip-flops). Multiday stays bring the rate down considerably.
