About Kerry
Based in the back-of-beyond in the Cambrian Mountains of Wales, Kerry is an award-winning travel writer and photographer. More than anything, she loves mountains, hiking, wildlife and places that are freezing cold and forgotten. In her 15 years+ as a Lonely Planet writer, she has authored dozens of guides and traveled to all seven continents – from Antarctica to the Arctic. Her most memorable moments include hitchhiking with Thai royalty, freestyle sledging with Tibetan monks, serving beer at Oktoberfest and swimming with whale sharks in Australia – all in the name of a good story. Her specialist areas include the UK, Central and Southern Europe and Scandinavia. When not writing for Lonely Planet, she contributes to publications including National Geographic Traveller, The Times and The Independent.
