A new road and bridge project, which will link the coastal city of Durban in KwaZulu Natal with Maputo, is expected to boost self-drive tourism between Mozambique and South Africa.

The current route involves poor roads and a ferry, with the final 120km taking three hours or more alone – the time needed to travel that section should be reduced to almost an hour, with the total time saved over the entire journey being around four hours.
