The focal point of the town, this stone cathedral dates back to the 17th century and its fortified ramparts testify to its role as local refuge during the Moro pirate raids. Above the main doors is a niche containing the 1792 statue of the Blessed Virgin, credited with driving away the pirates with storms and saving the town from natural disasters.
