Japanese Cemetery

The upland coffee country of the Kona coast has historically been settled and worked by Japanese immigrants and their descendants, and this cemetery, which clings to the mountain slopes and is full of coral and lava-rock headstones inscribed with kanji, speaks to that heritage. Be respectful, and remember the cemetery is actively visited by locals.
